Mini Storage Outlet sent the building kit for this prefabricated metal mini storage building to Semmes, Alabama, in October 2024, adding a much-needed 232 new storage units to the southwestern Alabama community.
Ideal for renters with traditional storage needs, the building provides optimal protection for home goods, seasonal items, furniture, sports equipment and other belongings owners lack space for at home or at work. The storage units come in a variety of sizes to accommodate renters with differing storage needs, and the mini storage building has 6” of R-30 fiberglass insulation in its roof and walls, making it well-suited for housing temperature-sensitive items.
The building has a professional, attractive exterior, with Gray walls and a combination of Brilliant White and Gray trim adding to its aesthetic appeal. All mini storage doors in the complex are a striking Polar Blue, adding contrast to the building’s exterior design. Custom-designed in line with the self-storage business owner’s needs and wants, the mini storage building also features painted hallways, 29-gauge partitions functioning as dividers between units, and gutters and downspouts along the roof, which help prevent leaks by channeling rainwater away from the building’s roof and foundation.
Economical, low-maintenance and a great way to generate passive rental income, this building effectively meets the storage needs of the community while keeping residents’ belongings safe, dry and protected from theft and the elements.
The 180’x200’x9.5’ metal mini storage building has the following storage units and doors inside:
- (1) 5’x5’ unit with a 3’x7’ mini storage door
- (36) 5’x10’ units with 3’x7’ mini storage doors
- (3) 10’x5’ units with 8’x7’ mini storage doors
- (69) 10’x10’ units with 8’x7’ mini storage doors
- (82) 10’x15’ units with 8’x7’ mini storage doors
- (35) 10’x20’ storage units with 8’x7’ mini storage doors
All doors in the complex are Janus Model 650 mini storage doors, and each comes with its own stainless-steel latch. Mini Storage Outlet also engineered the structure to meet or exceed local building code requirements, giving it a 156-mph wind load in consideration of the Semmes’ area’s vulnerability to hurricanes and other storms with strong, gusty winds.
Part of southern Alabama’s Mobile metropolitan area, the city of Semmes lies 11 miles west of Prichard and roughly 15 miles northwest of Downtown Mobile.
